READING THE DESIGN

The Chalk-White Pierrot studies the expressive possibilities of a nearly unbroken pale silhouette. Its loose overshirt falls into wide trousers, interrupted by a small procession of graphite pompons. A narrow pleated ruff keeps the emphasis close to the face rather than spreading across the shoulders. This is an original vintage-inspired interpretation, not an authenticated period garment. When considering a pale costume, ask how opaque the actual fabric is and what underlayers it requires. Check the shoulder width, sleeve opening and trouser length against the intended performer. Confirm the ruff and any other separate pieces in writing before agreeing an order or hire.
